Not just about growing the Movement

26 May 2017

For the third year in succession, Cumbria Scouts from 17th Barrow scout group have held their very successful plant sale fundraiser.

Using a professional grower from “away down south somewhere”, the group took orders for more than 500 packs of bedding plants.  From Ageratum to Verbena (no Zinnia‘s this time!), the group were busy leafleting in March and April and were delighted with the great support from new and repeat customers.

Matt Sanderson, from Roose, said “The plants are really good quality, and it’s great to be able to buy them so cheaply and still support such a good cause“.

Scouts from 17th Barrow have been holding a plant sale for 3 years;  Scouts from 2nd Ulverston and Xenolith ESU have been doing this for MANY years!  As well as the annual Christmas Post, the Ulverston Scouts plant sale gets Scouting activities out into the community and at the same time helps the groups raise very welcome funds.

If any groups or districts want to find out more about bedding plant sales, contact our County Media Manager for info.
