Managing Your Section Course

The Managing Your Section Course is a busy weekend residential course during which we tackle eleven modules and also give you the skills required to validate them with your Local Training Manager.

This course will help you with the preparation of the programme that you offer the young people and also deals with a number of the tricky aspects of being a Leader. One of the main advantages of this course over other methods of learning is that you’ll be with other like-minded adults and be able to exchange ideas and experiences that will help you in your scouting role.

During this course you will cover the following modules.

  • Fundamental Values
  • Changes in Scouting
  • Valuing Diversity
  • Skills of Leadership
  • Working with Adults
  • Administration
  • Providing a Balanced Programme
  • Growing the Movement
  • Young People Today
  • Challenging Behaviour
  • International

We prefer you to attend this Course before Outdoor Scouting if possible in order to get the best out of your training but appreciate that is not always possible.

If you have any questions regarding this course, please talk with your Local Training Manager, Mentor or District Commissioner.

There is a maximum number of places on each course so please book as early as possible.

Details of all occurrences of this course can be found of on our training events page.
