County Commissioner Vacancy

18 January 2014

it_could_be_youThe search continues for someone to lead Cumbria Scouts into the future when Graham White stands down at the end of his term later this year.

Cumbria Scouts offer a vibrant, exciting and adventurous programme to young people aged 6-25 as well as offering the same experience and adventure to adults too.  We have over 3,400 young people who are supported by over 700 adults involved in local Scouting in Cumbria and we are continuing to grow and reach out to many more young people and adults every day.

We are now looking for someone who can take us forward and continue this success story.

Tim Leader, Cumbria Scouts County Chairman, said, “We are in search of a senior volunteer with leadership and management experience who wants to do more in their wider community.  This person also needs to have excellent inter-personal skills and the ability to motivate and inspire others.”

“The  County Commissioner in Cumbria is responsible for leading the Scout County and ensuring that they continue to provide good quality and safe Scouting for young people and also taking us forward into the future as a growing organisation that remains relevant to young people and adults alike.”

A County Commissioner will be capable of providing strategic direction and vision, and be able to work alongside people of all ages to help enable change. The new incumbent need have no experience of Scouting and full training will be given and they will be part of a county team.

If you think you are the person described above, or you know someone who you think is suitable, Cumbria Scouts would really love to hear from you.  Scouting is as popular today as it has ever been and is growing rapidly.  We now need the right person to lead and manage them so that they can continue the successes that they are enjoying now.
