Everyone is welcome
Headquarters have approved this approach for use as part of the COVID Safe First Aid Training until the end of 2022.
The approach is made up of the following:
You need to complete the First response e-learning and attend a validation session to complete Module 10A:
Completing E-learning. This will take approximately 2.5 hours, which teaches you all the relevant information. It includes videos, fact sheets and quizzes. PLEASE SELECT THE CUMBRIA E-LEARNING COMPLETION FORM AT THE END OF THE E-LEARNING COURSE.
Attending and participating in a validation session (virtual or face-to-face), approximately 2.5 hours. This comprises different activities to validate the learning.
You will need to attend a short practical validation session (e.g. CPR) to complete the First Response.
There are a number of external qualifications which cover similar content, which can be compared against the syllabus.
The Scouts recognises that some professions by the nature of the job will have an emergency aid element; for example, Nurses, Midwives, Police Officers, Medical Practitioners, Members of HM Armed Forces, Ambulance Care – Assistants/Paramedics/Technicians, etc. To exempt these professions from undergoing more training, they are required to provide evidence of an up-to-date qualification which should meet the criteria for what is considered our minimum standard (as listed above). With regards to ‘evidence’, this can be a certificate or an official letter confirming the necessary areas have been met.
All emergency aid training must cover the below criteria. The level of detail and time spent on each subject will vary, depending on whether it is a First Response or Full Emergency Aid course.
First Response Conversion for First Aid at Work (3 day) course. This module is designed to complete the additional topics required for the First Response, having completed the First Aid at Work (3 day) course.
First Response Conversion for Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day) course. This module is designed to complete the additional topics required for the First Response, having completed the Emergency First Aid at Work (1 day) course.
First Response Conversion for Child First Aid Courses This module is designed to complete the additional topics required for the First Response, having completed the 2 day Child First Aid course, St John School’s First Aid or similar.
By completing the relevant course above this will allow you to validate Module 10A and 10B (as per the date on your certificate). Please let your Training Adviser or the Local Training Manager have a copy of your certificate, unless otherwise directed.
Lastly, make sure you make a note of when you are next due to renew / re-validate your training!
