Cumbria Scouts Media Competition – 2018

It’s back folks!  After some great entries last year, we are once again running our County Media Competition.  This year, it’s all about photography.  So much so, we hope to be able to produce a “print-your-own” calendar at the end of this year, for all groups to be able to share with their members, family and friends.

There are twelve categories this year, and the best photo in each category will win a £25 prize.  Unlike last year, there are no limits on the number of entries per group, or per individual.  In theory, one person could win all 12 prizes, but of course we hope for a great many entries – making it a Competition!

The twelve subject categories are:

  • Beavers – Indoor Activity
  • Beavers – Outdoor Activity
  • Beavers – Community Engagement
  • Cubs – Indoor Activity
  • Cubs – Outdoor Activity
  • Cubs – Community Engagement
  • Scouts – Indoor Activity
  • Scouts – Outdoor Activity
  • Scouts – Community Engagement
  • Explorers – Adventurous Activity
  • Explorers – Community Engagement
  • Network – Free Entry

How to enter

Please send your photographs BY EMAIL to

Each photo should be sent in a separate email.

In the email, you must tell us which category you are entering, and the date and location of the location.  Also include details of the District / Scout Group / Section, and the activity that was going on.

Photo files should not be greater than 10Mb.

You must abide by the terms and conditions of the competition (yes, because of the nature of this competition, we have to have them).

Each photo on the calendar will include a description of the event, and Section/Group or Unit, and District details.  Please signify in your email if you do or do not want your name included as the photographer.

Photographs may be taken between 1st April 2018 and 30th November 2018

All entries MUST be received by 3rd December 2018

So get out your cameras, your phones, whatever you use, and get snapping!  We can’t wait to see your entries.  Good luck!
