Retain, Rejoin, Recruit Project

Because bringing more young people ultimately means building a brighter future

Retain, Rejoin, Recruit is a Cumbria-wide support project to help grow Scouting across the county. It was initially designed to support scouting in the ‘post-pandemic phase, but we are aiming for this scheme to continue into the ‘new normal’.

As a county, we want to ensure that we achieve our aim of providing the opportunities scouting has to offer to as many young people’s as we possibly can. That’s why we are challenging you to take our Retain, Rejoin, Recruit Challenge (The 3R Challenge!).

The challenge consists of a variety of resources to support local scouting growth, a collection of badges designed to help you publicise your Scout Group, Explorer Scout Unit or Scout Network and grow your membership.

Retain, Rejoin, Recruit Resources

Our ‘Padlet’, which is an online notice board has loads of resources, links, ideas and guidance to get you going with The 3R Challenge.

Going for Growth Badges

The badges cover the following areas:

  • Publicising your group in the local community
  • Bring your friends
  • Growing your adult membership

Each area has its own badge, which everyone, young people and adults, can gain and wear on their uniform.

The Cumbria Award 2021

Every member in the county has been awarded a ‘Back Together’ badge to celebrate overcoming the challenges that have been imposed on us all by the pandemic.

This is linked to our newly launched ‘Cumbria Award’. An information pack is provided via the link below, to allow your members to complete this special award as well as giving you some simple, fun and interesting programme ideas!

The award is open ended, simple and offers the chance for sections and leaders to be creative in completing the seven challenges. We would love to see you share these with us on social media channels or emails so we can promote the amazing things Cumbrian Scouts have been getting up to.
